On this page I collect my observations of the galactic emission/reflection nebula NGC 2024 (Flame Nebula) in the constellation Orion.
The galactic emission/reflection nebula NGC 2024 in the constellation Orion, is called Flame Nebula. It is located next to the belt star Alnitak; it is therefore easy to find, but difficult to observe, because the bright star outshines it. With a wider field of view of the telescope, NGC 2024 can be observed together with the Horsehead Nebula B 33. On some photos also the emission and reflection nebula NGC 2023 can be seen next to B 33.
