Sony RX10 M3: Telephoto Close-Up Comparison with Panasonic TZ202

Sample Photos

This page presents sample photos that demonstrate and compare the close-up facilities of the "pure" Sony RX10 M3 and Panasonic TZ202 cameras, that is, without any close-up lenses. These photos were mostly taken using an extreme telephoto macro setting on the TZ202 and at various settings on the RX10 M3 (for better comparison with the TZ202).

These sample photos were taken in February 2019.

Sample Photos

Note that some 300 mm samples taken with the Sony RX10 M3 show a rather low magnification. This is due to the fact that between a focal length of 200 mm to nearly 400 mm the closest distance is rather large for the RX10 M3 (up to 1.5 m). Therefore, between a focal length of 135 mm and 360 mm, the Panasonic TZ202 achieves a larger magnification.

Note that I did not try to achieve the largest possible magnification when I took the shots below.
