Sony RX10 M3: Close-Up Samples - with Close-up Lens

Sample Photos

This page presents first sample photos that demonstrate the close-up facilities of the Sony RX10 M3 when using a +3 achromat sa a close-up lens (screwed to the 72 mm filter thread). Although the camera has a macro mode (allowing shots from a few cm at wide angle and 92 cm at the tele end, resulting in an object size of about a credit card), I would not call these photos "macros" but "close-ups."

These sample photos were taken in January 2019.

The following photos were taken at various focal lengths between 200 mm and 600 mm (equiv.) to demonstrate the magnifications that can be achieved with a +3 achromat screwed to the filter thread.

It must be noted that the image quality suffers at longer focal lengths. Morover there is more camera shake and very low depth of field. To cope with this, I used ISO 1600, which dies not a good service i terms of image quality... I therefore do not present the originals but may do so, when the light is brighter in spring or summer. In some cases, I also include a 600 mm version shot without a close-up lens for comparison of the magnification.
