NGC 672/IC 1727 (Holm 46)

Introduction | Map | My Own Photos | My Own Observations | References

On this page I compile my observations of the gravitationally bound galaxy pair Holm 46 in the constellation Triangulum, consisting of the barred spiral galaxies NGC 672 and IC 1727.

Introduction

NGC 672 in the constellation Triangulum is a barred spiral galaxy with extensive star-forming regions. Together with the barred spiral galaxy IC 1727, which is less than 90,000 light years away, it forms the gravitationally bound galaxy pair Holm 46.

Three more galaxies can be seen on my Vespera Pro photo: NGC 670 (lenticular galaxy), NGC 684 (edge-on spiral galaxy) und IC 1731 (barred spiral galaxy) ; these three galaxies form the galaxy trio LGG 32.
