NGC 3184

On this page I collect my observations of the barred spiral galaxy NGC 3184 (SBc) in the constellation Ursa Major.

Introduction

The barred spiral galaxy NGC 3184 in the constellation Ursa Major is seen from above like the Pinwheel Galaxy M 101 so that it got the name "Little Pinwheel Galaxy". It is rather faint. Within NGC 3184, there are two H II regions, which were named NGC 3180 and NGC 3181. In the neighborhood, there is the lenticular galaxy NGC 3179 (S0) , which is also on my photos. See the evaluation of a photo further down!
