On this page I collect my observations of the barred spiral galaxy NGC 3115 (sometimes called Spindle Galaxy) in the constellation Sextans.

Introduction

The barred spiral galaxy NGC 3115 (sometimes called Spindle Galaxy) in the constellation Sextans is one of two or three "spindle galaxies" and has a relatively high surface brightness for galaxies, so that it is normally easy to find. In the eVscope or refractor it shows a bright round core and a faint lenticular or spindle-shaped halo.
