On this page I collect my observations of the open star cluster M 6 (Butterfly Cluster; NGC 6405) in the constellation Scorpius.

Introduction

The open star cluster M 6 (Butterfly Cluster) in the constellation Scorpius forms, according to Stoyan, together with M 7 (Ptolemy's Cluster) an impressive cluster duo. But they are far too much apart to be seen together in the eVscope.

M 6 (NGC 6405)
Size: 25' x 20'   (Stoyan)
Distance: 1,600 light years (Stoyan)
Rating: ****   (Stoyan)
