On this page I collect my observations of the planetary nebula Sh2-274 (Medusa Nebula; Abell 21) in constellation Gemini.
The planetary nebula Sh2-274 (Medusa Nebula; Abell 21) in constellation Gemini is extended and therefore faint (low surface brightness). The nebula owes its proper name to the snake-like gas filaments, which are reminiscent of Medusa's hair. It was cataloged by the astronomer Stewart Sharpless in his catalog of nebulae published in 1959.
